Write A Grant Proposal Problem Statement Or Needs Assessment

Write A Grant Proposal

The problem statement (or needs assessment) is a very valuable section of a grant proposal. The problem statement must be more then just telling the grant funders why you need funding, the information must also include data supporting or proving the need. The information must be written in a clear and precise manner so the readers understand the importance of your grant project

Instructions

1. Give specific problems or needs that the project is addressing.

2. Give data from reliable sources that gives evidence of the need or problem given. Never make assumptions that can not be supported by data.

3. Identify who benefits from the project. In many cases this is the target population the project is tended to help.

4. Show how this project fits in with your organizations mission. Make sure to address key point on how this project is also directly related to the funding foundation or agency's mission stated in the grant guidelines.
