ESET Smart
Security is a security suite that provides a plethora of features. The latest version, ESET Smart Security 4, provides users with features designed to protect against viruses, spyware and spam. ESET Smart Security is based on the NOD32 anti-virus and anti-spyware engine.
Scanner
ESET's scanner is designed to provide real-time scanning of network communications, including SSL encrypted HTTPS and POP3S data. It also scans compressed files and boasts optimizations that speed up the scanning process.
Firewall
The firewall included with Smart Security 4 features a learning mode designed to create security rules for the firewall based on user's network usage. It also provides an advanced interface with a plethora of options for experienced users.
Removable Media
Smart Security 4 also scans removable drives for viruses and malware. It is designed to scan automatically any file that is accessed, including files that are opened using autorun.
Tools
ESET also includes a package of system tools that allow users to perform manual scans of system processes and create bootable rescue discs. Smart Security's rescue software is compatible with CD, DVD and USB drives.
