Make Victorianstyle Lampshades

Convert a standard lampshade into a Victorian-style shade.


A Victorian lampshade enhances a room with elegance and a hint of romance. While authentic Victorian-style lampshades can become costly, you can learn make the shades for your home in a few simple steps. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Peel off the label from the self-adhesive lampshade. Do not throw it away; it will serve as your measurements for the shade fabric.


2. Spread the fabric on a flat surface. Place the label on top of it. Use a pen to outline the lampshade label, and leave 1-inch margins on every side.


3. Press the fabric to the lampshade in small sections at a time. Create the seams using the hot glue gun. Allow time to dry.


4. Lay the silk organza on a flat surface. Place the lampshade label on top of it. Outline the organza, leaving half-inch margins on each side.


5. Apply glue to the top and bottom of the lampshade frame, and carefully place the organza on the shade. It should fit loosely on the frame. Allow time to dry.


6. Measure lace for the top frame by wrapping it around the lampshade. Cut the lace and glue it on using the hot glue gun. Repeat this step for the bottom of the frame.
