Write A Concept Paper

Write a clear, factual concept paper to grab the attention of the agency.

A concept paper precedes a full proposal, offering a preview of the proposal's main points. Companies ask for a concept paper to give feedback to the proposal writer and weed out any ideas not likely to be funded. To capture and hold the attention of the reviewer, a concept paper must be interesting and get right to the point. Provide just the right amount of detail to get the funding agency interested in your goals and ideas.

Instructions

1. Provide contact information on the cover page. Include your name and address, as well as the date.

2. Research the funding agency, learning its purpose and the types of projects it supports. Then write the introduction of the concept paper, including some of the information collected during research. Include facts about your agency, its mission and how the two agencies can work together.

3. Explain the question or problem that must be addressed, in the purpose section of the paper. Provide supporting documentation from reputable sources, and include statistical information, if available. Make it clear you have done your research and that you're an expert on the subject.

4. Describe the scope and intent of your plans in the project description section. Explain the plan of action, why it will work and who the plan will help. Provide a brief overview of the goals and objectives.

5. List the general types of support needed to complete the project, such as equipment and travel funds. Provide this information in the support section of the paper. Give specific budget information only if the funding agency requests it.
