Ready to replace that old blown subwoofer in your speaker cabinet but don't want to pay for the removal and installation process? Luckily, removing components from speaker cabinets is about as easy as car installation. All you'll need to do to keep the process simple is purchase the proper sized subwoofer replacement.
Instructions
1. Note the make of your speaker cabinet and search for subwoofers that fit your cabinet on the company's website or store. Buy the new subwoofer.
2. Make sure the subwoofer is not powered by unplugging the amplifier powering the speaker cabinet. Remove the speaker cabinet's grill.
3. Remove the paneling from the speaker cabinet. Depending on the age and model of the cabinet, you may have to remove the entire panel to reach the screws holding the subwoofer in place, or you might not have to remove any paneling. Use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the paneling.
4. Remove the subwoofer using a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the screws holding the subwoofer in place. Pull out the subwoofer and disconnect the terminals from the wiring harness.
5. Plug the terminals of the new subwoofer into the wiring harness. Tuck the wires behind the cabinet and screw the new subwoofer in place using the same screws. The new subwoofer should fit into the old wiring harness if you've purchased the proper subwoofer, as determined by Step 1. Reassemble the cabinet in reverse order.
