Paint Haciendas

Traditional hacienda exterior colors are white, peach or sand.

Since the architecture of a hacienda or Spanish-style home is so distinctive, with the smooth stucco exterior, clay roofing tiles and arched windows and doors, painting the home in a traditional hacienda color is ideal for a cohesive look. Spanish hacienda homes usually have a muted exterior look while going bright and rustic inside. The color you choose for your hacienda will not only enhance the home itself but also the landscaping in your yard. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose an exterior paint color for the stucco. Traditional colors for a hacienda include sand, peach or creamy white. All three of these colors pair well with the red or brown clay tiles usually found on Spanish-style haciendas.

2. Find a paint to use as trim around doors and windows. Since the exterior paint colors are earth tone, trim ideas include rust, dark brown or taupe to accent windows and doors.

3. Paint the inside of the hacienda in traditional Spanish colors. Interior colors are usually bold and paired with flooring materials like terra-cotta stone or wood. Interior choices include greens, blues, reds, oranges and browns.

4. Offset vibrant wall colors with white trim around walls, doors and windows.
