Pay For Stuff Online

Pay for Stuff Online

Online shopping allows you to access electronic stores 24 hours a day, seven days a week and choose from a variety of goods and services, without leaving the comfort of your home. With so many online stores available, you may want to take advantage of the convenience of Internet shopping and make your own purchases. Fortunately, e-commerce vendors offer a wide variety of payment methods so that you can pay for your stuff online and choose how the money is transferred.

Instructions

1. Navigate to an e-commerce website like Amazon.com, eBay.com, Etsy.com, Buy.com and Overstock.com to find the product that you want to buy. Once you find this item, log in to the provider's website by clicking a link such as "Sign In," or if you haven't registered with the site, register for a new account by clicking a link such as "Register."

2. Locate a link such as "Account" or "Account Settings" after you log in to add your payment information, which may include a credit card or checking account number. For example, vendors such as Amazon.com provide a "Your Account" link and eBay.com offers this feature under the "My eBay" tab. This step can save you some time during checkout because you will not have to repeatedly enter your payment information if you are a repeat customer; however, storing your payment information on the site is optional.

3. Add the desired item(s) to your virtual shopping cart by clicking a purchase button next to it. For example, vendors like Etsy.com and Overstock.com provide an "Add To Cart" button and Amazon.com offers an "Add to Shopping Cart" button.

4. Click the vendor's "Checkout" feature and then click the option next to your desired payment method to pay for your item online. Typically, you are presented with a screen that allows you to click a button next to your payment choice. For example, if using Amazon.com, you can select a stored credit card (if applicable), add a new credit card, use an Amazon.com gift card or enter a checking account with your bank routing and checking account number. Alternately, some vendors, such as eBay.com, present you with an option to log in to your PayPal account to fund your purchase. Click the appropriate button, such as "Continue," to proceed with the transaction.

5. Record your order number, displayed on the confirmation page, once your transaction is complete. Alternately, you can use your browser's "Print" function or use the "Print" link provided on the vendor's confirmation page to have a hard copy record of your purchase. This order number proves that you paid for your purchase and helps locate your order record should you need to ask the vendor any questions about the transaction.
