Paint Turquoise Furniture

Transform boring furniture with turquoise paint.

If you have a room in your home with a turquoise color scheme you may find it difficult to find furniture that matches your decor. You could spend all of your time searching stores for turquoise tables and chairs, only to come home empty handed. You might even be considering changing your color palette. You don't have to sacrifice your love of the color turquoise for lack of furniture options. When you learn to paint your own furniture a world of possibilities will open up to you. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose a well ventilated area in which to paint your furniture. Keep in mind that the furniture will have to sit undisturbed for hours at a time while the paint dries so it is important to choose an area that does not have heavy traffic. Lay down newspaper underneath the furniture to protect your flooring.

2. Sand the entire piece of furniture with a fine-grit sandpaper. Sanding will remove any existing paint or imperfections on the furniture. Wipe away sawdust with a soft cloth. You may need to sand the furniture several times before it is smooth enough to paint.

3. Apply a water-based primer to the furniture using a paintbrush. Work from the top of the furniture to the bottom, applying an even coat. Allow the primer to dry for at least 3 hours, then apply a second coat. Let dry for another 3 hours.

4. Apply two coats of turquoise paint to the furniture and allow to dry for at least 24 hours. Wait at least 1 hour between coats.

5. Apply a clear varnish to the furniture to seal and protect the paint. Allow the varnish to dry overnight before using the furniture.
