Make A Space Suit For A Doll

Make a doll space suit with household materials.

Make a space suit for your Barbies or other dolls so they can go on a mission to another planet, or under your bed. You don't need to buy a space suit for dolls of any size, because you probably already have everything you need to make one in your home. Whatever you don't have in your home is available in a department or craft store.

Instructions

1. Unroll cotton balls or pull them apart into flat strips. Wrap them around your doll's legs and feet and tape them in place with clear tape. Continue wrapping and taping cotton around the doll's torso and arms, all the way up to her shoulders and neck.

2. Tear off about 20 strips of tin foil that are about 3 inches wide and 4 inches long. Wrap the foil over the cotton and gently squeeze the foil to help shape it to the doll's body. Place a small piece of clear tape over the ends to hold them in place.

3. Wrap more tin foil around the doll's hands, which you did not cover with cotton because your astronaut needs to be able to use her hands on her space mission. Squeeze the foil as you wrap it to keep it in place. Wrap clear tape around her wrists.

4. Cut the bottom 3 inches off the soda bottle. Put it over your doll's head and wrap masking tape around the cut edge to connect it to the rest of the suit. The plastic will not form to the doll's body, so fill in any gaps with masking tape.

5. Wrap foil around the back of the plastic "helmet" and tape it in place so only the front remains clear. Decorate the front of the suit with small round buttons or badges cut out of construction paper and glued in place. When you are ready to remove the space suit, unwrap the tape around the helmet and carefully cut a slit down the back of the suit so the doll can slip out.
