Install Crown Molding Using Crown Corner Blocks

Crown corner blocks takes the hassle out of installing crown molding.


Crown molding adds beauty and value to your home. Even if you have never installed crown molding before, you will find that using crown corners takes the guesswork out of cutting the correct angles on the crown molding. Crown corner blocks are pre-cut at the factory with the correct angle included. All you need to do is to mount the block on the corner, and butt the crown molding against the corner block. Instructions


1. Count every angle in the room, keeping track of how many of the corners are inside corners and how many of the corners are outside corners.


2. Get crown molding corner blocks that match or compliment your crown molding pattern. These blocks are available at home improvement stores.


3. Install the inside crown molding blocks by placing the corner blocks into the corner carefully. Nail into place, using a nail set to avoid hammer blow marks on the corners.


4. Fit the crown molding strips against the corners and nail into place, using the nail set. Make certain there is a tight fit before permanently nailing in place.


5. Install the outside corner blocks. Outside corner molding blocks are fastened in place after the straight molding strips are fastened to the wall. Secure them with nails and use the nail set. Putty nail holes before painting or staining and finishing.
