Remove Speakers From Peavey Cabinets

It's possible to remove your Peavey speakers from the cabinet.

Peavey has been making consumer and professional speakers for more than 50 years. One element these systems all have in common is the ability to change out the speakers. Removing speakers from Peavey cabinets doesn't require a lot of electronics expertise-and only basic tools are needed.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the speaker cabinet from any power source, such as an amp connection, by unplugging the cables that lead into the back of the speaker.

2. Remove the speaker grille. These screws are removed with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove all the screws along the bottom and sides, leaving the top screws last. This will prevent the speaker grille from falling out of place. Place your hand on the speaker and remove the top screws. Set the grille to the side.

3. Remove the screws holding the speaker in the cabinet. Use the same technique as you did with the grille, first removing the screws at the bottom and the sides. Brace the speaker with your hand and remove the top screws.

4. Continue to brace the speaker with your hand as you allow it to slowly tilt forward. Keep tilting the speaker until you can see the two speaker wire connections at the base of the speaker.

5. Pull the two connections off the speaker. Maintain your grip on the speaker with one hand, meanwhile grabbing one of the wires by the clamp at the end where it attaches to the speaker. Pull off to remove. Don't pull by the wire itself-you may damage the wire connection-only pull by the clamp. A pair of needle nose pliers can help out here, if needed.
