There are 48 high schools in Miami Dade County.

Maritime & Science Technology Academy


As of the 2010/2011 school year, Maritime & Science Technology Academy is the No. 1 school for reading and math scores at 89.5 and 95 percent, respectively. As a magnet school, its program focuses on mathematics, science and technology. All students eligible to attend school in Miami Dade may apply. The school is also nationally recognized for its marine program theme and had 550 students as of February 2011.


Design & Architectural Senior High School


Design & Architectural Senior High School is a magnet school with 469 students as of the 2010/2011 school year. The magnet program focuses on mathematics, science and technology. Math scores match those of Maritime & Science Technology at the 95th percentile while its reading scores are slightly lower at 87 percent. Of the top 10 high schools in Miami Dade for math and reading scores, this is the only school with an architectural theme.


New World School Of The Arts


Affiliated with the University of Florida, The New World School Of The Arts had an enrollment of 486 students as of February 2011. The school's mascot is the "fightin' pigeons." This magnet school has a visual and performance arts theme and admission is based on a performance audition and portfolio review. As of the 2010/2011 school year, the school's reading and math scores are at the 75th and 87th percentile, respectively.


Coral Reef Senior High School


Coral Reef Senior High School had a significantly higher enrollment rate than the top three schools for reading and math scores in the district at 3,146 students as of the 2010/2011 school year. A magnet school, Coral Reefs programs focus on engineering, law, health and visual and performing arts. Any student eligible to attend school in Miami Dade can apply.


Miami Palmetto Senior High School


Miami Palmetto Senior High School, home of the Panthers, had a student enrollment of nearly 3,400 as of February 2011. The school has a mandatory uniform policy for all students and has reading and math scores at the 57.7th and 77th percentile.


Robert Morgan Education Center


Like Coral Reef High School, Robert Morgan Education Center is a magnet school with academies that represent the following themes: health, specialty services, transportation and technical services, information and business services, design, engineering and performing arts. Robert Morgan has reading and math scores at the 52.1 percentile and 76.9 percentile, respectively, as of the 2010/2011 school year.


John A. Ferguson Senior High School


John A. Ferguson Senior High School had a student enrollment of 3,629 students as of the 2010/2011 school year. Its reading and math scores are 48.2 percentile and the 76th percentile, respectively. John A. Ferguson is a magnet school.


Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School


Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School had a student population of 3,720 as of the 2010/2011 school year. The school seeks to ensure students maintain no less than a "B" average and uses the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test to evaluate students. Reading and math tests are 44.6 percent and 73.7 percent, respectively.


William Turner Technical Arts High School


William Turner Technical Arts High School had an enrollment of 1,504 students as of the 2010/2011 school year. Reading and math tests are 41.3 percent and 71.3 percent, respectively. The school's curriculum programs are divided into six academies including public science, health and information technology.


Felix Varela Senior High School


As of the 2010/2011 school year, Felix Varela Senior High School had the highest student enrollment of the top 10 schools with 3,771 students. The school's reading and math scores are 41.1 percent and 67.4 percent, respectively.
