Refinish Wood Floors Or Wax

Wood floors can be refinished with little or no dust.


Wood flooring is a durable, eco-friendly and appealing flooring medium to use in your home, and wood flooring actually adds value to your home. Wood floors are installed and then painted with at least two coats of varnish or polyurethane to protect the wood. When the wood floor needs a good refinishing and waxing treatment, most people are not motivated to do it because of the vast amounts of dust and debris that comes from sanding the floor in order to refinish it. Take heart, because there is another method that will significantly decrease the dust and possibly eliminate it all together. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Remove all free-standing items from the wood floor and sweep the floor thoroughly.


2. Turn the buffing machine on low and go over the entire floor. This will remove all of the loose and imperfect varnish on the floor and create a smooth surface to refinish.


3. Sweep the floor again.


4. Paint the floor with one coat of varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 12 hours.


5. Paint the floor with a second coat of varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours.


6. Follow up with a wax if desired. You can wax the floor using the buffing machine. Refer to the manual on do this because each machine is different.
