Make A Mission Statement

Writing a mission statement for your business or organization is important. When decisions need to be made and one decision looks no better than another, you can look to your mission statement for guidance. If someone else is in charge of the company or group in a few years, the mission statement becomes a guiding objective for the group's activities.

Instructions

1. Collaborate with your mastermind group. That means that the people who are helping you get this started. Your mission statement is 1-3 sentences that answer the question "What is the point?"

2. Read mission statements from other companies or organizations. Many companies publish their mission statement on their website. Reading them will help you understand the nature of a mission statement and how precisely they need to be worded.

3. Stick with your mission statement over the years. Let it evolve and grow and change as necessary, but try not to stray from the core values that the company was built upon.

4. Hang it in a prominent place and reflect upon it regularly. Ask yourself "Is this what we're going?" If your practices don't align with your goals, then your path to success won't be a straight line, it will flip and flop all over the place, causing confusion within the company.
