Native American Indian Villages & Horse Riding Tours In Las Vegas Nevada

The desert surrounding Las Vegas is rich with history.

Bright neon, glittering lights, and cascading sounds are all words that describe Las Vegas, Nevada. There is more to this area of Nevada than just the strip, though. Vast desert vistas rich with history surround Las Vegas. A number of stables are in the area that offer trail rides and ancient Indian villages dot the landscape, ready for exploring.

Cowboy Trail Rides

Enjoy Red Rock Canyon with Cowboy Trail Rides.

In Red Rock Canyon, just a few minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, is Cowboy Trail Rides. The stables offer well-trained horses for every riding level to experience a true horseback adventure. Six different riding adventures are available, some including a meal on the trail. The Sunset Trail Ride follows a winding trail to a canyon floor and crosses through the natural habitats of several desert animals. The ride ends with a western barbecue enjoyed under the stars. The premier ride offered by the stables is the WOW Ride, where riders pack their lunch in the saddlebags and then head into the mountains. This ride takes five hours to complete.

Sagebrush Ranch

This ranch claims to be "the ranch with all the pretty horses" and is located less than 30 minutes from the heart of Las Vegas. They offer four different riding tours, including one overnight excursion. The tours are named for famous characters of the Old West, including Doc Holliday and Jesse James. The Sundance Kid and Butch Cassidy tour is an overnight adventure. Ride down to camp and enjoy dinner cooked over the campfire, then experience the stars and sounds of the horses as you drop off to sleep. After breakfast and breaking down camp, ride back to the trailhead through the desert.

Lost City Museum

Near Las Vegas is the Lost City Museum in Overton, Nevada. The museum is built on the ruins of the Virgin Anasazi Pueblo, and has reconstructed the village to be as accurate as possible. The Virgin Anasazi people are one of the six recognized subdivisions of the Anasazi culture, and the least is known about these people. This is partially due to the filling of Lake Mead, which happened before careful research about the Virgin Anasazi could be completed. Studies continue, and more information is always discovered, which the museum is dedicated to showing.

Las Vegas Paiute Tribe

The Las Vegs Paiute Snow Mountain Reservation is located on the outskirts of Las Vegas, and is open to visitors. On the reservation is the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, which offers three championship courses in one location. The resort also has a full restaurant and bar that showcases the the 18th hole of the Snow Mountain course and a panoramic view of the Sheep Mountain Range. For guests' convenience, there is a smoking lounge on premises. Golfers who get hungry while playing can fill up at one of the three available snack bars.
