Wedding Locations In Redlands California

Redlands has many historic homes, parks and buildings wjere you can host weddings.

Redlands, a small city at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains, has the nickname "The City of Millionaires." During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many of the city's earliest citizens amassed fortunes thanks to the surrounding orange groves. They built spectacular homes, parks and public institutions that gave Redlands an atmosphere of grace and charm. Today, many of those same places are available for a new generation of Redlands' brides who want a wedding with hometown style.

The Edwards Mansion

Built in 1890 by one of the founding fathers of Redlands, the Edwards Mansion has become one of the city's best-known wedding locations. Orange groves and gardens equipped with waterfalls surround the 14-room house and a small 100-seat chapel built in 1908. Couples can also exchange vows in one of several gazebos in the gardens if they need more space. For receptions, both the second floor of the mansion and a greenhouse in the garden seat 75 people. The property also has two enclosed pavilions that seat more than 350 people. The mansion's chef works with couples to design a menu according to the wedding budget. The Edwards Mansion also provides a minister, music, flowers, limos, the cake and the photographer if needed.

The University of Redlands

Located at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, the University of Redlands has several sites with sweeping vistas it shares with the community for weddings. The entrance to the administration Bbuilding, with its rolling mountain backdrop, and the school's Greek Amphitheater, with a side garden, are two favorite outdoor settings for wedding ceremonies. Couples who prefer an indoor wedding can opt for 350-seat Memorial Chapel. The university also rents its banquet hall, which can accommodate up to 1,400 guests for dinner prepared by an award-winning local catering company. The university also provides a dance floor, equipment for a band or DJ and a bride's dressing room.

Mission San Gabriel's Rancho San Bernardino

The original mission of San Gabriel was built in the early 19th century as an outpost for ranchers. Although it gradually fell into ruin, the San Bernardino Historical Society purchased the site in 1925 and rebuilt the mission, which now hosts events including weddings. Couples can exchange vows in the Mission's chapel, which seats 100. For larger ceremonies of roughly 300 guests, the facility offers a gated courtyard bordered by pomegranate trees. The Mission also accommodates outdoor receptions and offers a caterer's kitchen.

Propect Park

Prospect Park and its late 19th century carriage house provides a cozy venue for smaller weddings in Redlands. The 60-acre public park, with carefully planned and tended gardens, offers a small covered pavilion surrounded by woods for wedding ceremonies. Hillsen Hall, located inside the carriage house, seats 80 guests for a reception. A sound system, concert grand piano, changing rooms for the bride and groom and a caterer's kitchen are also available. A patio provides additional seating for 60. Although Prospect Park offers charm and privacy, it is not for everyone. Other than champagne toasts, the park forbids alcohol; it also prohibits smoking.
