Schools In Boiling Springs North Carolina

The small town of Boiling Springs is located in Cleveland County, North Carolina and was first settled in 1843. Religion and education were very important in the early history of the town, and Boiling Springs Baptist Church was one of the first buildings constructed. The first denominational high school was opened in 1905 as a boarding institution, named Boiling Springs High School. This institution continues to remains an important structure in the town's education system.


Preschool


Boiling Springs Baptist Church Daycare is the primary preschool in the area. Licensed for up to 90 students, Boiling Springs Baptist Daycare was opened in 1984 and provides spiritual and educational services for children six weeks to 4 years old. The school is located in the Boiling Springs Baptist Church and has six classrooms available for instructional use. Children are divided by age, and taught in these groups.


Elementary


Boiling Springs Elementary is located five minutes from the center of the city. According to the school, its mission is to "provide appropriate educational experiences in an optimal learning environment enabling each student to lead a fulfilling and productive life." Boiling Springs Elementary is located in the southern part of the school district designated as the Crest Zone. There are two additional elementary schools in this zone, Springmore and Township Three Elementary but they are located just outside of Boiling Springs.


High School


Crest High School opened in 1967 to serve the southern area of Cleveland County. CREST, which stands for Cleveland Rural Education Stands Together, was an effort by the community to consolidate high schools with old facilities and build two new ones for the students. One of the four high schools closed was Boiling Springs High School, which was also known as Old Crest. Crest High School is known for its academic and athletic excellence in its community.


Higher education


The original Boiling Springs High School that was founded in 1905 became Gardner-Webb University in January 1993. Beginning as a boarding high school, Gardner-Webb first became a junior college and now it is an accredited university with both master's and doctorate programs. This institution has a long history with the community church and providing a Christian-based education, especially to those students seeking a career in teaching or the ministry.
