Plywood Crafts

Plywood can be used for a variety of craft projects.

Plywood is an inexpensive, readily available material you can use to create all kinds of craft projects. Look for patterns online or create your own. Finished projects can be painted or stained to your liking. Whether you choose to build projects for kids, your workshop or your garden, work within your skill set and work up to larger more complicated plans as your confidence grows.

Seasonal Lawn Figures

Seasonal lawn figures can be cut from plywood and painted by hand. Christmas figures like snowmen, reindeer and Santa Clause are all good ideas. Create Halloween figures like witches, cats and ghosts to decorate your yard. For Easter build a bunny, some chicks or spring flowers. Other themes include Valentine hearts and St. Patrick's day shamrocks or leprechauns. Another idea is to create a stork to welcome new babies, or use different characters to celebrate milestone birthdays.

Children's Furniture

Plywood is a material that can be used to create many different projects for the playroom or your child's bedroom. Things like toy boxes or chests are a sure bet with plywood. Another idea is to create a wall hanging by cutting out any shape, adding knobs and hanging it on the wall to hang up robes, hoodies or jewelry. These ideas can be painted in bright colors with nontoxic paint to fit into any design scheme.

Workshop Items

For the workshop, plywood can be an especially good choice as it can take a little wear and tear. Use it to build stools, benches, a cutoff bin for scraps of wood and a workbench. You could also build a selection of shelves and wall cabinets, with or without doors, to keep your shop organized. Other ideas include work surfaces for different tools and sawhorses to help you complete your projects with ease. Another craft project for the workshop is a bench mounted toolbox with dividers for handheld tools.

Garden Ideas

Plywood can be used for a large selection of garden projects. One idea is to build a birdhouse or a bird perch for your yard. You can also use a scroll saw to cut out various shapes that can be painted and affixed to your fence or house. Think of themes like flowers, stars and woodland creatures to create a touch of whimsy to your outdoor spaces. Another thing you can do with plywood is to create a garden bench to place in a special corner of the garden.
