Take Apart A Recliner Chair

Taking apart a recliner makes it easier to move.

Moving furniture can be a hassle, especially if you do not have access to a truck. Fortunately, you can take most recliner chairs apart into several smaller pieces. You may have to remove some bolts or release a set of retention pins to disconnect the components of the recliner. Check your owner's manual for disassembly instructions specific to your recliner chair's make and model. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Move to the back of the recliner and reach into the gap between the backrest and the sides of the chair. Pull down on the metal levers inside the gap to release the backrest from the recliner's frame.

2. Lay the recliner on its side so you can access the bottom of the seat. Find the pins that connect the seat to the arms of the chair. These are usually near the front of the seat. Remove the retaining screws using a screwdriver from the pins, and set them aside. Slide the pins out to release the front

3. Lift the seat until you can reach the screws that attach the seat to the sides of the recliner. Remove the screws and lift the seat out of the chair.

4. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the bolts securing the arms of the chair. Remove the bolts and pull the arms away from the recliner's frame.
