Steam Clean Microsuede Furniture

Use a steam cleaner to deep clean your micro-suede furniture.

Micro-suede, also known as microfiber, is made up of small fibers used to create a leather-like material that is soft and resilient. Its durability makes it a common choice for families with pets or small children that could cause damage to furniture. If you have a micro-suede furniture set, proper cleaning helps maintain the durability of the pieces. On top of regular cleanings, steam cleaning one to two times a year will help remove deep down stains, further helping to maintain the furniture's look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Vacuum the surface of the furniture with a regular vacuum. Remove all cushions and vacuum underneath them. Also, use the crevice attachment to clean in the cracks of the furniture. This will remove any surface debris and hair from the piece.

2. Fill the steam cleaner water reservoir with water and steam cleaning solution according to the manufacture's recommendations. If necessary, you can rent a steam cleaner from your local home improvement store or major grocery store.

3. Squeeze the water release button on the steam cleaner and move the upholstery attachment slowly over the top of the furniture. Go back over the furniture a second time without holding the button and suck the fluid back up. Clean the entire surface of the furniture with the steam cleaner, including the cushions. Although different cleaners may have different operating directions, the majority work in this manner.

4. Leave the furniture to air dry completely before using it. If you are in a hurry for the piece to dry quicker, turn a fan on and leave it aimed at the furniture until it's dry.

5. Brush the surface of the furniture, including the cushions, with a soft bristle toothbrush to soften the fibers.
