Install The Install Shield Engine If It Could Not Be Launched When Updated

The install shield engine is a program on the Microsoft Windows XP computer operating system that works to install other programs on your computer. After you update your XP computer, the install shield engine might have problems if certain system files are missing from your computer. Replace these files to get the install shield engine up and running again.

Instructions

1. Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD drive.

2. Click "Start" and select the "Run" menu item. Type in "cmd.exe" into the prompt that appears and press "Enter." This should open a DOS prompt on your computer.

3. Type "CD /d C:\" and press "Enter" to access the "C" drive. Type "Expand D:\I386\stdole32.tl_ %SystemRoot%\System32" and press "Enter" to replace the first missing file. Replace "D:" with the letter of your CD drive, if Windows XP assigns a different letter for your drive. Perform this replacement in all subsequent steps, if necessary.

4. Type "Expand D:\I386\stdole2.tl_ %SystemRoot%\System32" and press "Enter" to replace the second missing file.

5. Type "Expand D:\I386\stdole.tl_ %SystemRoot%\System32" and press "Enter" to replace the final missing file. This should reinstall the install shield engine to your Windows XP computer.
