Pair Chairs With A Leather Sofa

A leather couch can anchor a room, while two side chairs can perk it up.

Leather is a popular upholstery material because of its durability. All by itself, a leather sofa does little to add interest to a room, but with the right pair of chairs, you can have a stylish and engaging ensemble. There are very few design rules when it comes to selecting chairs to go with a leather couch. Base your selections on your own design and color preferences. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select two identical chairs upholstered in the same leather that's on your couch. To give the grouping visual interest, add throw pillows covered in fabric. Choose one or more prints that pick up the color of the chairs and the sofa but also introduce colors that complement the rest of the room. For additional texture, add a throw to the sofa.

2. Choose chairs with a fabric print upholstery that picks up the color of the couch but has other colors, as well. If your couch is dark, choose a fabric that has vivid colors. Keep the styling of the chairs similar to the sofa's. For example, if your sofa is modern, pick modern chairs. But if you have a western-looking sofa, pick, chairs that feature the same bold bronze tacks. This will keep the look cohesive. But the fabric will keep the ensemble from looking overly heavy.

3. Pick two different chairs. They should have the same fabric and pick up the color of the couch. For example choose one large chair with matching ottoman and one side chair with wooden armrests. As with identical chairs, this grouping will have a cohesive but visually intriguing look.
