Instructions
Balloon Character Body
1. Blow up your balloons so that there is about an inch at the end. Make a small bubble at the end of one balloon, then pinch the balloon slightly about 2 inches above the bubble and fold the balloon down to the bubble. Twist the bubble and the end of the fold together to create a hand. Repeat with your second balloon.
2. Place your two arms together and pinch the balloons together about 7 inches above the hands and twist them together. Twist a small bubble into each balloon just above the center twist to create shoulders.
3. Hold the balloons together about 5 or 6 inches below the shoulder and twist them together to create a torso for your balloon character. Feed one of the two balloons through the two portions that are the torso to lock it in place.
4. Make about a 3 inch fold at the very end of the balloon and twist the fold and the main balloon together at about 2 and 1/2 inches. This twist will create a small bubble at the end of the balloon which should be wrapped around the twist to lock it in place. Repeat on the second balloon to create the second foot and complete the body.
Balloon Clown
5. Inflate a long balloon in a color contrasting your balloon body. Inflate the balloon so that there is an extra 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches of extra space at the end. Carefully push the knot inside of the balloon and hold the knot in place with your opposite hand. Slip your finger out of the balloon and make a twist just above the not to create a tulip twist bubble head for your clown.
6. Make another bubble about 3 inches long just below the tulip twist. Twist the balloon a few inches below the 3 inch bubble and snap off the extra balloon. Allow the balloon below the 3 inch bubble to deflate and tie a knot. Tie the excess deflated balloon onto the top of your clown character's body and tie a knot.
7. Blow up a third balloon in a third color, leaving 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches at the end. Twist a series of 5 small bubbles into the knot end of the balloon, form them into a circle and then use the knot to tie off the chain. Snap off the long, excess balloon and tie the end together with the knot.
8. Roll the bubble chain over the tulip twist and down the 3 inch bubble of your clown character's head to give him a collar.
9. Use a permanent marker to put the final touches on your clown character. You might draw a face, curly clown hair or any other details you like.
