Styles Of 8x8 Vinyl Siding Sheds

Quaker style sheds have an unusual roof line.

Vinyl sided sheds usually have a wood frame, although some larger sizes can have metal frames. Sheds of these types should be built on and attached to a concrete slab. The walls can be insulated and finished with drywall. The ceiling can also be insulated and overhead lighting can be installed and wired to a wall switch. Wiring and plumbing must be installed according to building codes in your area.

Most shed designs feature two long sides and two shorter ends. You can usually order a customized 8-foot-by-8-foot size from home improvement stores. There may be a fee for custom service. Does this Spark an idea?

Gable

The simple style of a Gable shed has a pitched roof that slopes down on the sides and ends in an overhanging eave. The front and rear roof lines slant up to a point in the center. Depending on the size, the door could be a single or double swing with an aluminum threshold. A window is usually installed on one or both sides. Doors are typically located on the front end but most companies offer customization where the door can be placed on the side.

Gambrel

The gambrel style shed resembles a barn, only smaller. The roof has two angled sections on each side. The double swing door on the front end is trimmed to resemble barn doors. This style of shed is typically long on the sides and may have two windows, with shutters, on one or both sides. The trim includes a faux hayloft window above the front door.

Tackroom

Tackroom style sheds, also called cottage style, are designed to look like a miniature house. Unless you decide to customize, the double or single swing door is on the front, which is a long side. There is typically a window with shutters and a flower box next to the door. Extra wide doors are reinforced with steel. Floor joists and plywood flooring can be installed above the concrete slab.

New England

A New England design features a higher pitched roof and narrow eaves. Typically, a double arched door sits in the center of a long side. A shuttered window and flower boxes on both sides of the door give this shed a homey look.

Quaker

A Quaker style shed has a pitched roof that is long in the back and short in the front. The front of the shed is on a long side and the short roof slope ends in a large overhanging eave. The roof usually sports a copula in the center. The front consists of a centered double swing door and a shuttered window on each side of the door. Flower boxes are not typical with this design.
