Self storage facilities have rules and regulations for use.
There are many self-storage facilities all over the USA that lease or rent storage space to individuals and companies on a month by month basis. When you sign up with one of these self-storage companies, you will have to sign a lease agreement that sets forth the details of the agreement. You may also be given an additional set of rules and regulations which will include rules that you and the lessor must adhere to. These may be administrative issues that do not belong in the lease but do need to be covered to ensure your time leasing goes smoothly.
Entry and Exit Rules
In order to ensure that entrance halls and streets leading up to the self storage facility are kept free from traffic at all times, many self storage facilities specify in the rules that lessee's are not permitted to block or otherwise obstruct any of these areas or use them for any other reason than to enter and exit the facility.
Forbidden Uses
For safety, hygiene and legal reasons, all storage facilities will inform you in their rules and regulations of what you are not permitted to keep in your storage unit. You are not at any time permitted to store any kind of animal in the unit, you are not allowed to sleep in the unit and you are not allowed to store any kind of perishable goods, hazardous materials or anything that would be constituted as being illegal to possess under federal and state laws.
Lessors Rules
Subject to factors beyond the control of the lessor like repair, maintenance or accidents, lessors are responsible for ensuring that there is a reasonable amount of electricity and light and that elevator services are working safely and effectively with no extra charge. Lessors are also responsible for maintaining the toilet and washroom facilities to an acceptable standard.
