Replace Volvo S 60 Stereo Speakers

Replace Volvo S 60 Stereo Speakers

Replacing the factory HT or Dynaudio speakers in your Volvo S60 can help you upgrade the sound quality of your stereo. Best of all, the replacement can be done at home. Aftermarket speakers allow you to customize your vehicle's sound system to your liking. The Volvo S60 has either four or six factory speakers, depending on the trim level.

Instructions

1. Turn the engine off and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable with the pliers.

2. Remove the two screws located behind the interior door panel pull. Use the trim panel tool or flat-head screwdriver to pry up the window switch and door lock panel. Disconnect the electrical module from the underside of the panels and set them aside.

3. Pull the interior door handle towards you and pry off the backing plate. Slide the plate off of the door handle.

4. Grab the door panel and pop each clip from the door. There are eight clips holding the panel to the door, three on each side and two on top. Be careful not to damage the clips when removing the panel.

5. Unscrew the door speaker and unplug the connections from the rear. Plug in the new speaker and mount it in the speaker cavity. Repeat the process for all four door panels.

6. Pry off the speaker grilles in the front and rear (not all models have). Unscrew the speakers and disconnect the module.

7. Connect the new speakers and remount. Replace the speaker grille.
