Install A Curtain Rod Support

Nothing looks better on large, beautiful windows than well-hung curtains. Alternatively, nothing looks worse on large, beautiful windows than poorly hung, sagging curtains. The wider the window, the heavier the curtains will hang on the curtain rods, so it is important to properly install a curtain rod support. This will distribute the weight evenly across the length of the curtain rod while preventing the rod from bowing in the center. Curtain rod supports can also support shorter rods that are holding heavier fabric, such as velvet panels. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the length of the curtain rod you intend to hang. Divide the number in half to determine where the curtain rod support will hang.

2. Mark the wall or frame in the center of the window, halfway between the curtain rod brackets. Make sure the support will hold the rod at the same height as the brackets. This is where the curtain rod support will be installed.

3. Depending on the style of curtain rod support you have, you might be able to simply screw it in by hand. If you cannot get the support in by twisting it, you might need to use a power drill to drill a tiny pilot hole before putting the rod support in place. Other supports will require you to drill in individual screws to hold them in place, much like curtain rod mounting brackets.
